AGREEMENT OF THE SUBJECT WITH THE VERB

                                       VERBS-SINGULAR AND PLURAL

              Look at this sentence:

    Subject                           Verb Number
1-The orange                           is sweet   singular
   The oranges                        are sweet   plural

2-The girl                               was reading               singular
    The girls                             were reading   plural

3-This horse                            has long tails   singular
These horses                        have long tails   plural

In a sentence, it is important to see that a verb agrees with it subject. When the subject changes in number, the verb change too.

Rember (a)A singular subject has a singular verb.
(b)A plural subject has a plural verb.

When the subject is pronoun this is how the verbs agree:

Singular       plural             singular              plural               singular                 plural

I am          we are                  I was          we were                    I have              we have

You are       you are         you were         you were                   you have           you have

He/she      They are        She/ he was     They were                  He/she has         They have

We have seen that if the subject changes in person, the verb changes too.

NOTE-         We always use am, was, & have with I .
We always use are, were, & have with you .
